It was a beautiful evening; we danced by the lock, under a huge blossom laden tree, partaking of Robinson’s best! Well done to our newest dancers – dancing on uneven grass with the canal a few steps away is a bit different than the comfort of our practice hall! Thanks to all who watched, it looked like you were enjoying it? Pity The Boyz from the Boat had passed through earlier in the day and decided not to stop and join us!!

We are busy getting our calendar of events organised for 2011 and the great news is – you will be able to see more of us locally! Check out our calendar, it is being updated regularly.

We had a great start to 2011 when our new website was launched and we escaped the snow when we celebrated Plough Monday at the Traveller’s Rest in Stanley.

Plough Monday is the traditional day of dance for Molly dancers, when the out of work Plough boys who had managed to get through the winter, supplementing their none existent income by dancing and demanding money, took the Plough into the Church to be blessed ready for the work year ahead.

As none of our gang are farmers or even out of work plough boys, we started our own Plough Monday tradition a few years ago of dancing out at a local pub, having a meal afterwards and maybe a celebratory drink or two… This is now a Black Dog Molly tradition we will keep alive! However, if there’s anyone with an old, out of work Plough, we can always extend our current tradition to include it!

The Boss

As you may have noticed if you frequent the site, things have changed a little round here. The site has had a complete overhaul and the information updated. We have gone for a fairly simple layout, so hopefully everyone will be able to find the information they need as easily as possible.

The new design is built on the idea of a blog, allowing us to post news and updates easily, so hopefully the content will be constantly changing. There is also a calender which we will try to keep updated and photos, which again, if we get them, we will keep them as current as we can.

You will also notice that on the right of your screen are a few icons with ‘connect’ above them. These are links to the social networking sites we are on. We currently have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and we have an RSS feed which will give you all the latest posts that appear on this home page. The links on the sidebar link to the official social site pages so please use only them. There are some old pages out there with very out of date information on, which we unfortunately cannot get rid of. If you want to contact us please do so via the contact page not social sites as we will not constantly monitor them.

Well I think that’s about enough of me so all that’s left to say is hope you enjoy the new site!
